Printer-friendly version

Sparwood Search and Rescue is a volunteer organization based in Sparwood, British Columbia. Our primary function is to assist agencies such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the British Columbia Ambulance Service in the location and rescue or persons who are lost, missing, injured, or otherwise in distress. We are also available to assist local emergency management during disasters, and participate in community events and public education programs to help raise awareness.

Whether it is a lost child in the woods around town, or an injured snowmobiler deep in the backcountry, our dedicated team of unpaid professionals is on call 24/7 to respond to emergencies. Please explore our website to learn more about our organization, and see what you can do to help.

Here are a few useful facts to start off with:
- Our organizaton does not solicit funds by telephone.
- Despite what some people may have heard, Search and Rescue teams in BC do not charge for their services. Please do not delay calling emergency services for fear of receiving a bill!

- Please note that emergency calls from the public must be initiated through the RCMP or BC Ambulance - Call 9-1-1 for emergencies!
