It has been real a whirlwind the past few days for Sparwood SAR volunteers: We were called out along with Elkford SAR for a SPOT activation near the Elk Lakes on Friday afternoon but stood down enroute. Then we helped the Sparwood Fire Department with the fireworks show on Friday evening; participated in the Coal Miner Days parade Saturday Morning; and set up displays of our vehicles, equipment and information about SAR at the Emergency Preparedness fair on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, three of our members attended a Rope Rescue course in Invermere all weekend. Finally we were called out to assist Kimberley SAR in a large search operation near Kimberley, where 7 team members were deployed over Monday and Tuesday. We would like to give a huge thank you to our "unpaid professional" SAR members for all the time and hard work they put in; and also to our families, friends and employers who support us in doing what we do, so that others may live.

We had a great day showing off our equipment and rescue techniques at Coal Miner Days 2015!
